Tea DELIGHTS....

How yummy!!! Chocolate covered GIGANTIC strawberries, punchbowl cake (too good for words!)...a first-white chocolate berry tarts THE BEST!....an array of sandwiches with my signature ribbon Tea Sandwich of dried apricots, pecans, cream cheese and honey...soooo good! A pleasant mild taste with crunch.

One of our favorites is the cheese ball...this year the gal that makes it..put small portions in mini cupcake cups...perfect, since it's time consuming and awkward to scoop the cheese off the ball..though it looks pretty beforehand!

This is another of the crafted tea tables... Whimsical...with birds, feathers etc.

" A little birdie told me"

...a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter. Ecclesiastes 10:20b

and A COUNTRY HOME.... this had so much detail..the napkins were bandannas with a wooden spoon attached with a bread recipe.

The verse.. Give us this day our daily bread. Matthew 6:11

and finally...our tea gift...

a nice porcelain tea caddy. Our scrap booking gal and her daughters made the cute flowers for the front of the boxes. The middle of the flower has a teapot stamp! Cute touch. The ladies loved the gift which can be used for used tea bags, rings, soap for guest..or even set as decor on a shelf.

I hope that you have gleaned some ideas here for your next TEA!! I'd love to know...and see your photos too!

TEA and FRIENDS!!!

Ladies Luncheon...creative theme tables

ROYALTY
This is one of my favorites!!! A lot of handwork went into these decorations!!! The gold trim on the deep purple runner, the beads...the velvet covered napkin rings with decorations. Looked sooo Royal!! and they chose REAL gold trimmed china!

Each table had a small gift for each setting.... it could be anything, from a use able item to a tasty treat

Since this is the first time ALL the ladies helped decorate...I gave them little tips and some things for their tables of my own. Over the years they have learned the many aspects of putting together an event. This year was their time to SHINE..and they certainly did!!!

MEMORIES
This is the table I decorated. I collected a few items from some of our group. The books are written by various Preachers from the 1800's!! On loan from our Pastor's wife...the glasses of Ms. Betty. The antique perfume bottle..my thrifty find (remember?)

The teapot lid sitting next to the teapot...is a miniature version with the word ANTIQUE written on the front.

The ladies sitting at this table represented the aged women (from 86 yrs. old - 56 yrs. old -me! ;)....
and the old paths that we have kept according to the WORD OF GOD!

Some of us at this table have been together for over 30 years. We have encouraged one another to be faithful, to keep the OLD PATHS...and to be an example to our younger women.
If you recall the luncheon of the BROWN BETTY teapot...Ms. Betty was seated at this table and in the photo display.

ORIENTAL

I loaned this group my tea set and dolls sent to me from Okinawa, Japan. I loved how their little gift bags matched the colors in the doll kimono.

MUSIC

Each table prepared a decorative way to show the Bible verse that matched the table theme...this one done by one of our teens!

SEASHORE

The teapot on this table was embellished with painted artwork by one of our ladies in this group! TALENT!! It was such a joy to see the little bits of personal touch and desire to make it so SPECIAL!

I loved the plates on this table with the shell napkin rings! One of the gals in this group was in the NAVY in her single days!! She would bring a van load of sailors to church with her and many got SAVED!!! A nice memory of her ministry to others!!

SUMMERTIME

This one was so cute with ladybugs and watermelon!! One of the ladies, took the time to cut a real watermelon into a basket filled with melon balls. The napkins were punched with a cute design...Great idea! and even watermelon lolly pops (their table gift)

MORE THEMED TABLES TO COME....

Thank you for joining me...

continued...Ladies TEA

The luncheon this year was filled with so many enjoyable decorations...

This table represented the main theme: "TIME FOR TEA"

This lovely little tea set was unique in it's coming about...my mother gave me the sugar and creamer set a few years ago!... one day while shopping at TJ MAX in my search for luncheon decor...I happened upon the lovely tea pot that MATCHED my cream and sugar set! Yes..I was beside myself!!! and the price was fantastic! Thankfully, no one could see my inside JUMPING up for joy!! Then...weeks later..I found the matching "TEA" cups! Not only was it perfect with the TEA emblem-matching the tea pot,but a nice treasure for myself to keep.

The creative young gal that usually does my scrapbooking work...was unable this year...and another TALENTED young woman came through with the most gorgeous work!

I wrote this poem and asked if she could embellish it somehow??? for me to use as a display! VOILA...a masterpiece!!! so adorable as a TEA BAG!!!

“Time for Tea”
Lovely moments of friendship
Spent over a cup of tea
Aromas of a pleasant scent
Memories of unity
~~~~
A beautiful cup of hospitality
Generosity, oh so sweet
Blessed around the Word of God
Our faith in Eternity meet.
It was indeed a wonderful time just as the poem states. Lovely moments of friendship (as you will see in my next post of the different tables our ladies decorated)...wonderful aromas of Creme Brulee and various flavors of tea...we reflected on our past luncheons..this was the ninth! I myself couldn't believe I've been doing this for nine years!! Next year being the tenth..I get to be a guest! I hope..as the ladies have shown their own talents and have learned from the experience over the years..preparing themselves..and Lord willing if any of their husbands are called into the ministry...
They now can put on a lovely Ladies Luncheon and feel confident.
I have been thankful and blessed in the opportunity... Titus 2..that the aged women...TEACH the younger women...
Please join me again as I share more on this fun, creative occasion.
"Time for Tea" Ladies Luncheon 2011
"Time for Tea"
the theme for our luncheon this year...
I crafted this large TEA POT to place in the entry. It was a challenge to draw free hand...THANK YOU LORD for talent on loan!
I also hung smaller version teapots from the top of the entry doorway.
I noticed later ...that the back of the tea pot was BLUE! and with it partly showing was perfect for the view from our seated area!!!
With the talented help of one of our ladies...Word cards were placed in various spots on our buffet tables to emphasize words that end with "T"
Hospitality, Generosity, bounty, unity....
Our guest speakers devotion covered some of these words and the characteristics of each in our lives
The theme Bible verse for the luncheon is found in II Peter 1:8
Join me here again Thursday for more photos and highlights of our luncheon!
Bring a cup of tea with you too!
Blessings,
TEA TIME....
Hello friends!
It's that time of year again...for planning our ladies annual luncheon.
This year it's TIME FOR TEA!
It's going to be quite different and I'm excited about it...we have eight groups decorating THEIR OWN TABLES!!! (I usually do ALL the planning for the decor)
I am still the over sear and original planner...
but I gave each group a "theme" to use in decorating their table.
They supply a TEA POT for the centerpiece ...the plates and napkins.
also each table is to display a Bible Verse to go with the theme.
These are the themes I chose:
Royal Tea... Music Tea... Winter Tea... Seaside Tea
Summer Tea... Country Tea... Oriental Tea ...Memory Tea
I will be setting up our fellowship hall the usual way but will be making the main theme TIME FOR TEA using the above Tea set and clocks. Just to give you a glimpse!
My mother sent me the sugar and creamer set (in photo) years ago...and when I recently found the TEA POT at TJ Max I was thrilled! I also found two cups that match...I always have a SPECIAL middle table display...which will be decorated with these items.
The verse for this table reads:
The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
Lamentations 3:24
This clock is a favorite of mine..also given to me by my dear Mother...she always gives such lovely gifts.
AND....using my grand BLUE AND WHITE collection and beautiful Tea Set my son gave me years ago for the buffet tables. You'll have to come back to view all the photos...
The tea is the day before Mother's Day...
Menu is in the planning stages...YUM!
I'll have so much to share and the many blessings that come each year!!
Please stop by to visit again as I share with you ....TIME FOR TEA!
Blessings to you all,
Don't Miss The Journey For The Destination!
I will be embarking on a new journey with a destination....to please the LORD....to fulfill a purpose he has laid upon my heart at this time...and to reach the end with his blessings...and to HIS Praise and Glory.
I will be on a blogging break for some time...and truthfully, do not know if I will be back to blogging. However...my heart always has the desire to share the blessings of GOD and to encourage others with HIS WORD. THUS...I may be compelled from time to time to write a post here. THUS...In the midst of this journey...I will still be doing various crafts as well.
If you would like to continue to be a follower... I will be honored.
If you are a first time visitor..WELCOME! I hope you will be able to glean some fun here from crafts and ideas for Ladies Luncheons and gift giving ideas.
My sincerest THANK YOU to all who have come by and left kind comments!
Blessings..
Little touches ...Ladies Luncheon
As I thought upon the message I wanted to give with our theme "Bloom Where You Are Planted"...besides that of planting God's Word...was also the PEACE and REST that comes after the seed has taken root. I pictured a virtuous woman in her field wearing a lovely garden hat with basket on her arm...choosing the most beautiful of her garden to share with others.
I post a list of items needed for decorating and the little touches begin to take place...perfectly. One person brought the hat..another the basket with flowers...my apron..and our church nursery rocker! The "little" touches are what make each luncheon so unique.
In the photo below... I was so surprised to walk in Walmart one day and find the exact drink dispenser I had been DREAMING of and there it was...perfectly etched with FLOWERS!
I purchase the plastic tablecloths from the infamous Dollar Store! This year we also used pastel solids underneath. The yellow was actually quite bright..but underneath the lace it was...YES, Perfect!
These lovely dishcloths filled the little white buckets...representing flowers.
These were hand crocheted with 100% cotton yarn.
Buckets purchased from Michael's...found in the bridal and baby shower section.
I purchase doilies for the table settings and serving tables from various places. Depending on the size needed and price.
I was afraid at first I had too much going on with all the colors...but once it all came together...
It made a HAPPY...CHEERFUL...Ladies Spring Luncheon!
Ladies Spring Luncheon 2010
WELCOME to the Bloom Where You Are Planted 2010 Ladies Luncheon!
I'll have to post this in several parts ..there is so much to share!
Each year I pick a THEME and Bible verse to match and display them on an easel.
It's amazing how FUN scrap booking paper is to work with. The lovely patterns in this packet were full of wonderful colors. This is Stampin' Up paper.
This green check was in a Martha Stewart Packet...
I also used rub ons for the wording and flowers. I just cut out what I wanted to use. EASY and look how cute..adding the ribbon was the final touch.
And...here is what I made to wear as Hostess...I gave you a peek at the fabric..remember?
I wore a white blouse and black skirt underneath.... it made the perfect outfit for a GARDEN themed luncheon.
...more to come!!
May your Garden bring forth fruit abundantly!!
Luncheon photos
I found in my archive of photos some of the previous Ladies Luncheons. I was so happy to find these to share with you. I hope they inspire your creativity and give you ideas for your own Special time with the ladies of your church or even just a Special occasion in your own home.
The above photo was from the Wedding themed luncheon..... to magnifying our testimony as the Bride Of Christ..and how we will be found.
We had a skit showing two Brides (in gowns!) preparing herself as Bride adorned for her husband. Showing two different attitudes of preparation.
I asked the ladies to also bring their wedding photo albums...and I used several framed wedding portraits for display.
It was such an enjoyable time looking over the photos and attending eachother's weddings!
This is the LIGHT HOUSE I spoke of in the previous post. We used this as a center focal point upon entering our fellowship room.
I always use a three tier plate holder, it gives such a nice presentation with a matching verse displayed. The plates for this luncheon were a very nice heavy paper plate...almost looked like glass.
I used these same plates for the individual place settings. I also had a little card with a Bible Verse and mini lighthouse pin attached. Notice the candles at each place setting...these were the Thomas Kincaide candles (the gift to take home). It was really pretty when all the candles were lit one by one with the lights out...My favorite part of the entire luncheon that day!
This time of fellowship and encouragement is so important for each of us. I hope that you will take the time to make moments like this special..even with just one friend.
Have a "TEA" together around the testimony of graces in your life...and rejoice in the goodness of the LORD.
Psalm 108....
O that men would praise the LORD for his goodness,and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
Encouraging Women
l
A Ladies Luncheon
This all began with a desire in my heart to do something special for the ladies of my church. I wanted to start a yearly function that would focus on encouraging a Proverbs 31 woman. A yearly reminder of what we could or should be doing in our lives as women serving the LORD.
I pray each year that it also ministers to a great need of one in attendance and especially someone who does not know the LORD JESUS CHRIST as their personal Saviour. My desire with each theme and verse is to magnify the LORD and his work in our lives.
Believe it or not...only one year did I have to have money from the church fund. Each year I ask the ladies to RSVP and give $5 to cover the cost. Some offer more for donation. This has sufficed every year and includes a small gift for each lady to take home in remembrance of this special time together. The gift has be made or purchased.
Our gifts have included: a couple of gift exchanges...as a whole.
A candle and verse card....a musical note pin...a lovely china teacup...verse magnet and heart shaped box with handmade heart necklace... a book marker and a pretty flower keepsake...
The women of my church provide the food/beverages for the luncheon. I make up a menu and then have each lady sign up for a specific dish.
The menu
usually consist of: A main dish (meat) and complimentary foods or finger sandwiches, vegetable platters, fresh fruit platters, assorted desserts, and punch.
I have saved money each year by reusing some things. Purchased plastic lace looking tablecloths from the Dollar Store...I have one very nice "real looking" vinyl lace tablecloth that I use each year for the main center table. We use various flower arrangements that the church uses off and on in the year and I purchase any others needed...such as floral sprays or vines for the tables.
The ladies also donate for the day items that pertain to the theme.
Here are a few guidelines and preparations for a "themed" Ladies Luncheon.
I have done this for seven years and will try to recap a few for you.
First choose a THEME and a BIBLE VERSE to compliment each other.
Here is a brief example of this years.
Taking the BIBLE VERSE...break it down into the message you want to emphasize
Example: Proverbs 31:31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
This becomes your THEME
Example: THE HAPPY HOMEMAKER
I then chose Homemade crafts in the decor...and fruit! Cherries and homemade pies.
I have learned the hard way...pick your place setting first before you decide on decorations. I've chose the color first and then found I couldn't find what I wanted. This year I used smaller dessert plates and matching napkins to carry my place setting. Other years I've found a plate to show the theme.
EXAMPLE: I chose a verse and then found these perfect plates! I then decided to add a "mission" theme since we had several ladies from our own church, home on furlough.
The verse: Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Each year it amazes me at the small details that the LORD helps me with. Things just fall into place. This particular luncheon I wanted to give a candle as a gift and asked about candles from a Home Interiors sales lady...it just so happen that she had the perfect candle. A Thomas Kincaid jar candle with a LIGHTHOUSE on the front.
Our table setup is always in a U shape and I had the lady at each end light a taper candle and light her jar candle and then pass the taper candle to the next lady to light her jar candle... it was so touching to watch the candles begin to glow one by one until each place setting shown brightly. It made a lovely presentation...and had a message in itself!
The ladies home on furlough each gave testimony of their mission work on the foreign field.
I then happened to find these tiny LIGHTHOUSE pins in the DOLLAR STORE (my lifesaver for the luncheons-no pun here intended!) I bought all she had and then made cards with various "LIGHT" Bible verses. These were set at each place setting.
The decor also included a beautiful 4ft. LIGHTHOUSE one of the men in our church crafted for the occasion with even a light at the top. This was placed in the center of the room. It too, was black and white to match the lighthouse on the plates!
I also make up a program to place beside each place setting.
SONGS: are then chosen to match the theme.
Sometimes a SKIT or or this year 2009, I chose instead two contest.
I do not like to play "games" so not to take away the soberness of the message that is so needful. We have a very enjoyable time in the fellowship itself.
NOTE: I stay away from BIBLE challenge games also due to the fact that some ladies are new Christians and some are visitors. I've been to meetings that do this and found some ladies very intimidated by it. The luncheon is a time to enjoy fellowship and think upon the devotion, not who knows the most Bible.
The photo up top was our second luncheon in which I chose to have our first "TEA". Many of our ladies had never been to a TEA HOUSE to experience a High Tea. With the $5 from each lady I went all over to find each lady a china teacup. I found them NEW from $3.99-$5.00 in stores like Marshall's and Ross's ...they were gorgeous! Mind you this was some 30 teacups! The teacup in the photo is the one at my place setting. I also purchased a the nice teapot for the occasion!
We served different types of tea...and I found a recipe for a delicious Earl Grey Pound cake! We made tiny finger sandwhiches tied with ribbon and placed on a floral tiered plate holder..just like at the tea house!
I decorated with various teapots and a few teacups with floral arrangements in them...strings of pears strewn on the tables...and some of the ladies wore HATS!
"Quite Lovely!"
The verse that year...was
Matthew 13:45-46 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
Emphasising our worth to GOD.
The song chosen: When he Cometh
When He cometh, when He cometh To make up His jewels,
All His jewels precious jewels, His loved and His own:
Like the stars of the morning, His bright crown adorning,
They shall shine in their beauty,- Bright gems for His crown.
Our first luncheon was Proverbs 17:8 A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: withersoever it turneth, it prospereth.
I chose GIFT packages for the decorations. We wrapped huge packages and had each lady bring a gift with no name on it for a gift exchange. This was to signify that whatever gift was received was from all of the ladies. A GIFT table was part of the decor.
A skit
was performed showing the value of a gift and the reaction of the receiver. I had one lady be the receiver and four ladies at different times giving her a particular gift and mode of giving.
The first: gave of necessity and just grabbed what she could find-at a yard sale.
The second: could only afford a very very small gift.
The third: bought something outlandish she liked.
The fourth: bought a gift from the heart and went out of her way to find something that she knew would be special to the receiver.
The receiver of the gifts now had to show HER attitude in receiving the various gifts. It was a good lesson on the heart too!
We did one on Music and Praises to the LORD.
Psalm 28:7 ....therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
I found the cutest plastic musical notes for decorations which we also used with some large antique music sheets. This is just one of them.
..my dear husband (hero) helped me paint and varnish the cute wooden musical notes found at Michael's Craft Store. Though I couldn't find musical plates or napkins..the black white napkins worked well tied with a ribbon and flower and a red plate with doilies (oh I use a ton of these...round for the plates and rectangle for a place mat).
And one of our most memorable I think...was THE WEDDING.
I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness; and thou shalt know the LORD. Hosea 2:20
And the Spirit and the bride say, COME. Revelation 22:17
Lovely book markers were made for each place setting...and a bridal gift exchange was again done this year.
We decorated just like a wedding reception with floral covered arch...a REAL WEDDING CAKE! and mini bride and groom figurines (found at the DOLLAR STORE)...the colors were a soft pink and mint green and silver.
This lovely rose was on each plate with a tiny silver diamond ring.
I hope you enjoyed the little "luncheon" tutorial...and inspired to do the same for your ladies. Encourage them to think upon each other and their love for the LORD.
Our fellowship because of the Lord Christ Jesus is precious and should be highly valued...
Blessings~
A Very Special Luncheon 2008
presentation table
I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvelous works. Psalm 9:1
I normally do not single out one particular person, so that each year the luncheon is focused on a theme for all ladies attending. However, last year a dear sweet lady in our church was soon to celebrate her 70th birthday. I wanted to take this opportunity to honor her faithful testimony and example of a Godly woman.
This special lady, did not know that we were going to change plans...this year!
Our theme each year is to encourage the faithfulness of our ladies in serving the LORD...this was the perfect time to show the fruit of many years of faithful service.
The verse I chose, spoke well of the testimonies given during the luncheon of the influence this woman has had on so many lives to the Glory of God.
Another wonderful part of this particular luncheon, as with every year in fact; is the Lord's touching hand.
Each year it takes time and prayer to plan the luncheon so that the colors, theme, and verse all go together well.
I chose pink and brown after seeing cute polka dot ribbon in these colors and knowing I had some pretty pink flowers left from a wedding.
I then, recalled the OLD BROWN English teapot my husband had given me...some 25 years ago! and thought...
Oh, I'll dress up that plain...BROWN...teapot
presentation table
Little did I know...that this plain brown teapot was as significant as our dear sweet lady of honor!
I was speaking with my step mom about the luncheon and how the teapot looked so cute with the flowers and ribbon tucked inside, when she said
You know that is called a Brown Betty right?
I was awe struck! Here I owned this all these years and did not even know the history of this wonderful teapot! and how significant...that our lady of Honor is named ...BETTY!
This little teapot has quite a history. Its origins date back to the end of the 17th Century and the birth of the British Ceramic Teapot.The original unglazed teapot was made out of red clay from the Bradell Woods area in Stoke-on-Trent. Today the Brown Betty teapot is still made in Stoke-on-Trent with the same clay from the original area. British people believe the Brown Betty makes the best pot of tea because of the type of clay that is used and the shape of the pot. This teapot is lovingly hand-made in Staffordshire England.
I read the history of the famous teapot and reflected on it's significance to our dear sweet "Betty" and her value and resilience in time of trials and afflictions.
Below are photos of some of the decorations and the table settings.
My friend Carrie who sells "Stampin Up" scrap booking supplies made the sweet verse magnets and also covered heart shaped boxes with her papers and talent! We then had her sister make necklaces ( a silver heart on black satin rope) to place in each box. Gifts for each lady to take home.craft items
I alternated the color of the plates and boxes. Each place setting also had a yummy chocolate heart to carry on the theme of the HEART.
If you'll notice...with each luncheon I try to take a part or parts of the verse I chose in my decorations. This year...the heart. The Praise came in our testimony time.
place settings
One part I was really surprised at once it all came together...was that BROWN of all colors turned out to be very nice....even our chairs matched this year!
entry table
My next post will be an outline for planning a themed ladies luncheon.
I thank the LORD for his intervention in always helping me find the needed items or people in making our luncheons such a blessed event.
To HIM...
I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvelous works. Psalm 9:1
