..a little more creativity

Though I am on a BLOG break..I can't help not posting these fun crafts that others might enjoy making!

Here are the bags I've made from PLACE MATS!! and ribbon with a cute assortment of buttons it has endless possibilities. I love them! They are perfect to carry your Bible and a notebook etc. Or whatever you choose. The ribbon is actually quite sturdy. I used Gross grain..but on the brown for my mother I found a woven type ribbon.

I made a plastic insert for the bottom of the bag to hold it up a little better. I then made a slipcoverer to coordinate with the purse. Works great!

Also on the red..I decided to try the ribbon with the wire and it worked fine. This wire ribbon was not real stiff so it was just enough to hold the bow shape very nicely.

ENJOY the pics! The next one to make is for my friend Kelly having surgery today. She gets a Black with pink polka dot and pink Argyle button to fight Breast Cancer!

See ya soon..

These are AWESOME!!! but, I need some directions-- I'm a bit confused as to whether the bottom sits flat somehow or if it is just a seam at the bottom---I can't explain what I mean. But this looks really simple and fast and cool. Like Diana said, I miss Gus.
And I can't find the Army Wife blog. Is it on this blog? I'll take a closer look---I got sidetracked by your VERY CREATIVE (like those all CAPS like you do?) tote bags. They are wonderful gifts.

Very cute! I love the blue and brown. I hope you'll post pics of the one for your friend too; it sounds like it will be pretty.

I'm back HOPE, looking for detailed directions for the bottom of the tote, but I think I can figure it out. Last night,I had the idea that one could find these placemats on clearance/sale and it wouldln't matter if the print/color wasn't something you liked. Take your own material and cover the placemats, and you still have a sturdy tote with the fabric you like. So, is that plastic like that rug hooking plastic?

Thank you all so very much for your kind comments and friendship!

I'm so glad everyone is enjoying the crafts here.

I will post a tutorial on the bags..I haven't had time to put up the pics.
The bottom is sewn with an open seam at the V 1.5 ich across turned it makes the bottom seam lay flat. The plastic is that of the rug making sheets found in the yarn dept. at my Walmart. In a pkt. I can make three to one sheet of plastic.

God bless..

I love tote bags--- & the thing about these is they actually look durable. I've been trying to coax my daughter into selling on etsy( an all homemade craft site). Thanks so much!!!

Oh my word! That is EXACTLY what I've been trying to find in the stores to carry my Bible and notebook!

Please, please tell me in detail how you made them. I'm a beginner, but am ever so willing to try my hand at this. :)

You are a gem!

Merry Christmas,
Rebecca
