Busy Hands...

A couple of my grandsons collect pennants. I decided to try my hand at making my own..and personalize them for the boys. I hope they are pleasantly surprised!

I found some heavy duty felt at the store. This has a sticky backing, but I chose to leave on the removable paper backing. It gave it a little more stiffness by leaving it on. If peeled off, it is very sticky...definitely would be permanently affixed somewhere!

I also found some peel and stick felt letters! Perfect! I chose to put the boys birth year along with their names.

Since their mom just redid their room decor in shades of blues...I also chose a piece of fabric to edge the pennant in shades of blue with stars.... for the STARS!

(one note of caution: I used up two sewing needles due to the "sticky" backing...I was able to stitch one pennant and then had to replace the needle, due to sticky residue left on the needle...luckily, I have an abundant supply of sewing machine needles!)

...and one more new adventure I've taken on...

Crocheted cotton dish cloths! I LOVE THEM! They are theeeeee best to use! and WHITE is perfect to bleach out any stains and still look great.

This is the first time I've made them and now I can't stop...my family is going to find a few in future "goody" boxes!!!

It is so rewarding to work willingly with your hands...and then to pass on the creation is all the more rewarding for the SMILES in return.

Blessings..
HOPE~

I do agree with you on "...all the more rewarding for the SMILES in return."

I think I should start crocheting again. I have not been doing it for a long time. So maybe I should start by crocheting a dishcloth.

Thanks for the idea!

I'm sure the boys will love those pennants!
And it sounds like crocheting will be on the list of things for you to teach me next time we're together! I can't wait!!

I agree with you on "...all the more rewarding for the SMILES in return" from recipients :o)

You know, I've never tried white before because of stains and such being easy to see ... I've also heard that although bleach will remove them, it also makes the yarn less durable, quicker ~ I'd be happy for you to let me know what your experience is because I have none in that department :o)

Blessings!

Hey!!! That's what I'm doing!!! I am almost finished with my 'sample'. Like you, I like that cotton, and I want to make more and more...they make up so fast and easy. Good to see the 'fruits of our labor' so quickly. So thoughtful of you to take the gift to the new neighbors---see, it's those little things we do in the name of Jesus... they add up! The sock monkey is cute. Doesn't Gus need one?? I'm feeling a tad 'down' today, think I'll go look for some more cotton yarn. I need to get out of the house and talk to a few people.
